Through the study of music, KGC strives to foster in our students an appreciation for diverse cultures, varied perspectives, and ultimately, a passion for the rich tapestry of global musical culture. Our aim is to offer guidance and support in the art of choral music, providing an empowering foundation for students to pursue their dreams.
1. Elementary Program
The Elementary Program is an exceptional experience to enable all preschool-aged children (4-6 years old) to reach their full potential in singing, ear-training, diction, and body movement skills. Classes are offered in three sessions a year, 8 weeks per session (Fall, Spring, and Summer).
2. Level One
Level One is for young beginners in the 1st and the 2nd grades without previous musical experience. The curriculum includes music theory: ear training, pitch correction, rhythm, and vowel training.
3. Level Two
Level Two students who are in the 2nd and the 3rd grade, are mostly advanced from level One and are ready for further development. The curriculum includes the next step in music literacy and voice development. Emphasis on sight singing, ear training, harmony, and further performance skills.
4. Level Three
Level Three continues to master vocal and reading skills, focusing on skills needed for the advanced chorus. The curriculum includes further reinforcement and teaching of theory and sight-singing, with an emphasis on more complex vocal techniques, and greater development in three-part harmony. This intermediate level is designed for students in the 3rd to 4th grade. They will have more opportunities to perform in public.
5. Level Four
Level Four is for students who are in the 4th grade and above, and have mastered vocal skills and gained performance experience. Students in this group are required to pass an internal audition. They study challenging literature at a high level of proficiency, including advanced literature, four-part harmony, and a continued emphasis on vocal development. They also have the opportunity to participate in national competitions and performances.
6. Concert Group (middle school and high school)
A performance-oriented group consisting of four divisions: Concert Choir, Youth Choir, Youth Professional Choir, and Musical Group. Students must be at least in the 6th grade and possess music literacy. In addition to participating in concert tours within the United States and abroad, members are required to attend an annual Summer Music Camp.
